Dubois & Washington Speeches

Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois made some very great points. They both made points on the power of education. I believe that both Dubois and Washington tried to help inspire the African Americans. Both Dubois and Washington spoke in Atlanta, Georgia, except Washington spoke in front of a gathering of African Americans and White people. Washington talked about African Americans working their way up from the bottom to the top. He also reached out and said that they should make every effort for education. Washington told the whites that they need to cast down their buckets to the African Americans surrounded by them who have assisted them, supported and helped them, helping them earn their assets. Washington considers that black people should learn to appreciate working in the field. Washington’s speech was very interesting. Washington speech help the races come together more than they were before. Dubois “The Talented Tenth “discussed that there are a select few within every generation, within every race that are designated to inspire, inspire and lead their people to success. Dubois knew that not every black men or woman could go to college. He wants the black community to go to college and strive to be more than just any worker. He also explains that there is a tenth percentile of the black community that will upsurge and lead the rest of the community to victory. Dubois hopes to see a generation of educated men.
Overall, I agree with Dubois and his arguments. Knowledge is power. Who can take knowledge away from us? Knowledge is something that you learn and cannot be taken away from anyone. Like Dubois explained that African Americans must take what they know and share it with others in the community. The Talented Tenth was a worthy and interesting piece of writing. I believe that with education you can have a great success. Dubois did a great job writing The Talented Tenth. Who do you agree with? Are you giving others a piece of your knowledge?

I agree with you . Knowledge is something that cannot be taking away like a ordinary job can; thus, by pursuing higher education one will always be one step ahead because of what is in their mind.

I agree with both Dubois and Washington. The both did serve very valid points and i agree with what you said as well Kendra. Both speakers purpose is to uplift the African America community by stating truthful facts of their downfalls and positive influences. I am giving others a piece of my knowledge daily helping my friends and those in need and also helping myself by studying often and trying to complete work ahead of time.
